Question 5 is a Gibbs free energy question based on the reduction of metal oxides. It works from a graph of ΔG per mole of oxygen against temperature for the oxidation of magnesium. You state the equation linking ΔG, ΔH and ΔS, then read ΔS from the gradient of the line, with units, and show how ΔH is found from the graph. The final part brings in the copper and aluminium lines on a second graph and uses Hess' Law to compare the reactions. It is a compact but demanding test of energetics and graph interpretation.
