Graduation Photo of pioneer JC 2 Chemistry Class
Graduation Photo
Throwback to 2017: My First A-Level Tuition Class. Looking back at the graduation photo from that year, it’s hard to believe how far I’ve come since then.
Ah, 2017—the year Mr Khemistry began, and my first A-Level graduating class waltzed (or stumbled) through the doors. To be fair, finding the tuition unit under the escalator at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre was its own mini Chemistry experiment. I still laugh at the confusion on their faces when they realized they weren’t walking into a mall store but into their soon-to-be favorite study spot. That year, we also took our first class graduation photo, which I treasure dearly.
These students weren’t just my first batch; they were the foundation of what Mr Khemistry stands for today. They arrived hesitant, stressed, and frankly, a little skeptical about how a small unit could transform their Chemistry woes. But week after week, I watched them grow—not just in their understanding of titration curves or organic mechanisms but in their confidence. By the end of the year, they weren’t just solving equations—they were laughing at my terrible Chemistry puns (okay, maybe groaning, but I’ll take it!). And yes, there’s a memorable graduation photo capturing this growth.
It wasn’t all serious business. From debating the best bubble tea flavor during breaks to our impromptu “who can draw the best benzene ring” contests, this class had its quirks. But those quirks made it special. Every moment, including those captured in the graduation photo, holds a special place in my heart.
Reflection
Looking back, I feel proud—not just of their results but of their transformation. They walked in as students unsure of their potential and walked out as graduates ready to face any challenge. That 2017 class didn’t just inspire me—they reminded me why I started Mr Khemistry: to guide, support, and laugh through this wild journey called A-Levels.
It’s time to say goodbye. It was a pleasure to teach these guys, we had a good time teaching and learning together.
Hope they are able to score well for Chemistry and get into the course of their choice. They have their graduation photo as a lasting memory of this journey.
Here’s to the OG batch! All the best!!!! 🙂
